Plodding Along

I have some quilty projects that just never seem to get done... I'm not even talking about the zillion-year old UFOs I have. I am making a pieced border for this quilt, and I keep procrastinating!! I finally made some of the border today. When playing with its placement, I changed my mind on the kind of border I'm going to do, so now I have to make twice as many HSTs as I had thought. Oh, man... this is the kind of thing that I am good at putting off for ages! This is what zillion-year-old UFOs are made of: almost done projects that just need one thing that I find too boring and monotonous to make. Hundreds of the same thing over and over. Uffda!

I am hoping to keep plodding along and get this thing DONE! It is going to be for our queen-size bed. I'm excited to see it turn into a real quilt.

Here is some of my HST-making progress while working at church this afternoon:

This is the border the HSTs will become. I really like it and hope I can stick to these HSTs long enough to get it done very soon.

Have a great week, everyone!

The pieced border is going to be fabulous on this already great looking top! I always tend to run out of steam when it comes to the borders, too and end up slapping on a big hunk of plain border. It is definitely worth the extra time and work to do the piecing, you'll be happier in the end.

Maybe you can just commit to doing a certain number of triangles each day until you finish, or promise yourself a nice little reward at the end?

Its definitely going to be worth the work!

Did you ever figure out what was going on with the wierd photo problem?

At a meeting of my small quilting bee last week the hostess said that she has better luck working on the borders first and then the center. The comment made me think of John Flynn's braided border book in which he said that to be successful with the braided border to make the border first and then fit the center to the border. That said, I love your pieced border.

Thanks for all the comments. What a great idea to make the border first. But you know what? I know myself well enough to know I'll never do it that way. CT Tracey: haven't solved the photo issue except it might have been due to filling up my allottted space. I deleted a couple of fat blogs and that helped, a little.

hi, I'm from the bookawards blog. I sent you an invite, so you can post to the blog - what you want to read, what you have read, any reviews of book award books. Some people will make a big list of 12 books, but others read more by whim, and some are inbetween with partial lists and then some space for a newer book. Not really a lot of rules - enjoy, and come by and play.
