Today I finally got something worthwhile done. (That's more like it!) I took my sewing stuff over to church and had fun getting a lot accomplished. I quilted a top, but I don't have a picture of it yet. Maybe tomorrow. (I'm going back tomorrow for more sewing.)
I also finished getting these selvage edges together. This will eventually turn into a pillow.
The main thing I started on (thanks to a nudge from Pastor Penny) was the altar cloths I was asked to make for church. They asked me a zillion years ago. I don't know why I kept procrastinating! Once I started, it was fun to work on them.
I bought these fabrics to make a prototype. Now the store where I bought them is closed, but I'm hoping I can still find similar enough fabrics so I can use the prototype as a final piece. I have to make two for the small lecterns and one for the altar. Which orientation do you prefer? These are lumpy-looking because they are pinned together to make the various options. There are 3 versions of the "cross" in the middle, so you get to pick which size cross you like best. On the altar options, I didn't experiment with every single cross-size. I was getting tired of pinning and un-pinning. So just remember the altar cloth and the lectern pieces can have their choice of large, medium, or small cross-shape.

#1 - lectern with wave pattern going down
#2 - lectern with wave pattern going up

I like #1 the best for the Lectern...not sure about alter.. possibly #1A... I have a hard time visualizing! Sounds like a productive day! Way to go!
I like either the lectern with the wave going up or the small cross. And I like the cross going all the way across the alter, not in the wave. I also love the colors.
I like the small cross and the pattern going down. It reminds me of water spilling over the top...there's a lot of movement that way.
Ha ha ha - you get guilted way to easy! What happened to "after the wedding"? :)
I love the colors! I like the small cross (#5) on the lecturn, and love the cross on the altar cloth (#1A)! Beautiful!
#1 for sure - sorry to be one post late with my comment :)
#1 then #5 LOVE those colors!!
I like the small cross both places. Don't know why, just do! and I made the same selvage piece today too! Except no red. I decided to turn mine into a tote bag, though!
I notice that if I leave comments for people I will get them in return. I'm horrible about leaving comments, so I'm sure that's why I get very few.
I prefer option #1. It doesn't draw attention to itself, while providing a sense of visual movement. The crosses, while appropriate don't have the same sense of movement...
Lovely work!
I personally like #4 and #5 best, and I really like your selvedge piece, too!
Love what you did with your selvedges!!!!!
Those alter cloths are awesome - the colors are beautiful and peaceful. I like the wave pattern up on the lectern, and the small crosses across on the alter. The selvedge block is fun as well - some people are really going crazy with selvedages!
