What Good Are Quilts?

I'll tell you what quilts are good for... here is the proof. It's a quote from Kandee who received the quilt we gave her following the loss of everything in a tornado:

"When KT gave me the quilt, I had tears. Since then I have felt joy, comfort, warmth and hope for the future... everything a quilt should give."

That's why I make and give away quilts!

Isn't that sweet? I was talking to someone who said that she had friends who were "purists" in making quilts! My reply was oh then they must give them all away for the "pure" joy of making and giving!

I received a letter from Kandee, and certainly did not expect it, due to her horrendous loss, but, yes, that's why I help to make quilts. Her letter was so dear.

How nice of you to share this with us! Thanks for the update. I hope she's doing well.

BTW - do you know what happened to the row/medallion quilt you started and sent around to Sunnies?

Also, I can't figure out how to turn off the "no reply" option - I wandered all over my google account page, but can't find it?!

What a sweet note of thanks! These are reminders of why we give them away for sure! Right now, I'm enjoying one made for my hubby years ago and it fits the recliner and covers my feet nicely. With ice on my knee a quilt is great company!

Carole,
Me too- that is why I make quilts to give away- I feel like I am give a large hug to the people that I love- they can have it again and again each time they wrap themselves in the quilts I make.

It is one of the most satisfying parts of quilt making.
Warmest regards,
Anna

I got a sweet letter from Kandee and the following day another sweet letter from the recipient of my quilt. Those letters are among the few I've received as many of my quilts are donated anonomously. So it is nice to know when someone gets them, they are well received.
