I Hate Housework

quilt and photo by JG Mehlin

How many of you love housework? I hate it!! It's a huge, endless job. When you finish, you need to almost turn around and start over, especially if you have kids living with you. Today I am trying to clean out my sewing room. Believe me, this is not a small task. I have made some progress, and that makes it very tempting to stop what I'm doing and start sewing. I can see the tabletop! I have room to sew! But I am trying hard to force myself to keep cleaning. If not, I will soon be right back to where I started, surrounded by a mountain of mess. I know I'll be happier if I finish this room. But.. where is my fairy godmother when I need her? I wish she would come over and wave her magic wand. I want to seeewwwwwww! Waaaah!

I'm with YOU! ARghhhh and I don't even have much to do, with just the two of us!

However, that quilt on today's post is absolutely wonderful, different, not too much over the edge, and just darned creative!

Have you considered giving another woman a job once or twice a month and let HER clean your house? It might be just the incentive you need, or maybe someone could give you that gift? You would be helping another woman earn an income. As I get older and older, more and more of my friends have a helper with the house, now and then. Tempting ...

I hate it too. There are so many other fun things to do. We don't have kids here any more but things still pile up. I love the quilt you have pictured.

Hi Carol,
if you find that good fairy will you send her to me in Canada- I can think of a few things that are in serious need of cleaning....

Your new landscape looks like it is going to be gorgeous. It will lovely to see it in the spring.

I've never minded the "pick up" -- cleaning is another whole matter though! When I decide to pick up I try to start in a corner and just work my way around a room so there's almost aline between done and needs pickup still -- I enjoy the process of seeing that line shift around a room like a sunbeam...

Boy do I know the feeling. Let the house go and sew. You'll feel better.

Yes, I still hate it, but it gets easier eventually. I started out cleaning for a husband and 3 kids. But the kids all grew up and moved out. My hint for cleaning out the sewing room--I went to the hardware store and bought a magnet on a stick. I can search the floor for pins before vacuuming. But I don't keep the magnet anywhere near the machine or the computer, but in another room when not in use.

Ha Ha Ha! Hubby and I always wonder where the dish fairy is...you know the one that is supposed to drop by and do the dishes nightly? We finally decided she must be on vacation with the laundry fairy or galavanting with the magical chef. Oh life is such a bore with out them!!!
