For Our First Grandchild (& H BD, Daughter!)

I was trying to machine stitch the binding on this quilt, and the cat decided to "help." After he got bored with helping me, he decided I could probably handle the last few stitches on my own. So I did get it all done. Thanks for your support, Mr. Cat!

This quilt will be for our first grandchild. hahahahaha! Don't get excited. I don't even have a possible grandchild anywhere on a distant horizon, but one can always hope. Right? When and if I ever have one, he/she will have a quilt ready and waiting!

We are going to have some major landscaping work done in our front yard. Hooray!! It's going to be a huge improvement. Our chore today was to go to the landscaping/gardening/nursery emporium and look at stone. Yawn! Now I know how my hubby feels when I drag him to a quilt shop. I was quite surprised at how much I hated being at the landscapers' place. B-o-r-i-n-g!! And way too overwhelming with a million options.

To occupy myself, I took pictures of things that I found much more interesting. Stones and pavers just don't do it for me. (If it were up to me, I'd tell the landscaper to just pick something and put it in.)

At least we were out on a perfectly gorgeous day. AND it is our daughter's birthday today! She is on a surprise birthday outing with her very nice BF. She had no idea where they were going. He has that nice, romantic touch! (I used to wish my hubby would dream up a surprise date like that for me. After 33 years, I've given up, and I'm OK with it. *smile*) Happy birthday, dear daughter! Thanks for brightening our lives for 28 years!!

Here's my sad "get fit" report: this week I walked only two times, and I skipped my water aerobics class so I could watch the VP debate! So my total walking distance so far is only 32.5 miles. At least that's 32.5 miles that I wasn't doing before I took on this crusade!

What a darling quilt - your first grandbaby will be so lucky. I made the first grandbaby 10 YEARS before he came along. Friends asked why I was making that quilt - and I said - so I'd be ready when the grandbabies started coming. I said the first one gets the quilt - and he did - and he loves it. He is 3 1/2 now - and was well worth the wait.

Hey...I recognize that quilt! I thought perhaps you were claiming Mr. Cat as your first grandchild...'til I read on. ;-)

Love the photos! Looks like you had a good time.

Happy Birthday to your daughter!!! Do you know where her BF was taking her? What a guy!

I have a grandbaby hope chest. Only now it's no longer a hope chest. There are several quilts in it though.

the quilt is very pretty. My aunt found it and sent me a link. Do you know sign language? Is there a hidden message in there? .. I work with Deaf and Hard of Hearing kids, but I couldn't make out a message, so I wasn't sure if it's hidden, or if the letters were just placed randomly on purpose.

Kyla, it is just random. All the pieces here are scraps, I just made sure I had a signed letter or number in each square.
