Sewing Machine Wreck

Disaster! I was machine quilting... in fact, I finished two quilts, both of which went quite smoothly. Then the third was full of problems. The thread wasn't cooperating, the darning foot fell off a couple times, and finally the foot fell off again, and there was a loud, wrenching noise, and everything stopped. The needle is stuck down, very deep into the fabric. If I turn on the machine and try any sort of remedial steps, the engine grinds loudly. I'm going to have to haul the whole mess into the shop.

I'm nervous about the outcome of this wreck. I love my Pfaffie!

EEEEKKK! My heart goes out to you. These machine ARE like our babies. My Mom's sewing machine (an ancient Singer which I inherited when she upgraded years ago) has a distinctive sound I would surely recognize from a hundred machines running. Much like a Momma can recognize her baby's cry, I can "hear" my Mom's machine. Hope yours is up and running soon. Like any good quilter, you probably have a spare machine just in case!

oooooh! Good luck
And the word verification is "hylifula", which is probably similar to the sound your machine is making.

I've had the same thing happen to me and it is beyond frightening! I chose to deliberately break off my needle and was then able to extract both the upper and lower parts that way..and it worked fine afterwards. But let's face it, I should have brought mine in to the shop, too, as who knows what further damage I could have caused!

Yikes - good luck with your baby! I also have had the foot loosen, and it starts making a noise - clue -- tighten screw again!

Oohhhh nooooo! Very anxious moments, I'm sure. I hope it's nothing serious and expensive.

Oh no! I hate when that happens. And I don't evens sew as much as you. I hope it gets well soon (and inexpensively, too.)

Yikes! Best wishes to you and your Pfaffie for a remedy! My German baby and I will be standing by, waiting to hear the diagnosis.
