a picture of a habit I wish I didn't have...
I keep my nails short, because if I let them grow even a little bit, I start to chew on and play with them. Consequently I pretty much always have unattractive hands. I didn't even want to photograph them full on!
On the quilting front, I F.I.N.A.L.L.Y finished this quilt!! I'm so happy to have it done! I made the top three years ago when Tonya challenged us to work with repeats, using her free-pieced letters. I started repeating the letter "C" for Carol, and it grew into this quilt. I got it machine quilted this week, which took at least 10-12 hours, because I had so many starts and stops with my lines going every which way. Whew! I'm glad it's done. It'll hang in my guild's annual show which starts next week.
Here's a close-up showing some of the sign language letters I used.

I adore your quilt!!
Ooh, this is fantastic, Carol! I noticed the sign language fabric before I scrolled down to read your description. Congrats on a finished, really cool quilt!
I've been following Tonya for a while and just recently did my first words. I am hooked!
Oh, what a fun quilt. I just love it. Especially like your name with the signing inside the letters. I had an adorable quilt I wanted to put my Moab quillt guild's show, but sent it to DD for a fund raiser for her friend. It was the baskets of love--from the block lotto winnings.
Love making letters--that is someting I want to do more of this year--in fact I may put my name in one I'm puttering on now! Thanks for sharing. I love your free style of quiltmaking.
so glad to see you got your Carol quilt done - so much fun!!!!
The quilt is great, well done. Re nails I used to bite mine but then I thought about WHY I was biting them? It was the ruff edges annoying me so I just file them smooth instead now. You have to make sure you have a nail file where you need it, ie everywhere. So I have one on the side table when I'm watching TV, in my handbag, in my desk draw at work, in the sewing room, one in the car etc try it, hope it works for you.
