Finally, Some Quilts!

I finally got some ME time which means, nothing pressing coming up, no looming deadlines, time to do whatever I want ... so I plunged headfirst into my quilting and didn't look up or take a breath in three days! FUN, FUN, FUN! The following quilts are all for Sunshine.

This quilt is made from Lotto blocks I won. This weekend I got it quilted and bound.

This is just a scrappy thing I threw together - I had a bunch of strips staring at me, so I decided to throw them together into a random setting. I made it in a day, start to finish.

This quilt is made from blocks sent to me by a friend. I didn't know if it was child-friendly enough, so I decided to make the backing a little more kid-like... it turned into a reversible quilt! Cool!

Here's the back, a tad more kid-friendly, I thought. The next photo is a close-up of the panel I used. Today I got this one quilted and bound.

I also made several blocks this weekend. This is a couple of pictures of some of them. The four pictured above are on their way to Texas to be made into quilts for Sunshine.

On Sunday, after several weeks of being away, I went to church! It's great to see all those friendly faces after an absence. I especially miss my book group! I haven't been able to attend in ages, and I miss them terribly. I am supposed to be elsewhere again this week, but I think I might skip my other event, because I need my book group "fix."

I've been thinking about how much my book group means to me, and how it fills a void in my life that I didn't even know was there. What a gift it has been! We're starting a new book that looks like lots of fun: Traveling Mercies by Anne Lamott. She looks like a fun mix of serious and smart-ass!

Finally, Sunday evening I spent an enjoyable four hours with my lovely daughter, Autumn. (She says that's a stripper name. I just can't win.) We ate dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings and then went to Target. We had some good talks. I think Autumn and I are finally becoming friends, after all our ups and downs over the years. It feels great to both be growing up!

Three days of quilting and a trip to Target with your daughter! WOW, you are very lucky. I am not sure which is more fun the quilting or Target.

:) Book group loves and misses you too! Isn't it fun how you can start something new, thinking it would just be fun to do something a little different... and before long it's filling a void you didn't know you had? Book group is like that for me, too. I love it!

I love our book group! It was so good to see you tonight. Hopefully our group will start to be more regular again when fall is here and school starts!

Oh, what sewing fun! Glad you got a chance to do some. . . your quilts look great. My fave is the blue Lotto blocks.

I've been enjoying the tour of Philly with you. . . that's somewhere I'd like to go someday. Love the history there.
