Somehow I got myself into maintaining THREE photo album/scrap-booky type things. One for my quilt guild, one for church, and one at work. I know, no one forced me to do all of these. But.. some of them I chose to do because no one was doing them, and it needed to be done! I like having photos in order. However, the novelty of doing all three of these has worn thin.
At first I kept up really well, but lately I've let the pictures pile up, and it gets to be such a chore. And the headache of having these THREE to do has meant my own family photos have been piling up for months. I never used to do that! (Oh, there is a beautiful, bikini-clad woman coming out of the ocean on TV. She looks EXACTLY like me!)
Here's a sample of the extent of my creativity.. just slap some fancy papers in the background and put pictures at funny angles. Or cut them off in funny wiggly shapes where the background is non-essential. (Imagine a picture here... my computer is in transition, like everything in my life, and right now I can't upload pics from my old OR my new camera. I'm losing my patience! I'm getting gray hairs!)
Given a choice of quilting or scrapbooking, I'd rather quilt, ANY DAY!

I'm with you -- I'd rather be quilting than scrapbooking -- I do the one for my church, and I'm behind on that, and my own are not to be spoken of. I'm all for the KISS rule -- keep it simple.
Well, you know what I'd rather be doing. :)
If you need some help with the church one, I can do that. I may not be able to take it full on right now, but I could definitely help keep it up to date. Let me know!
I love your quilts....and I have NO desire to do any more of them. I've done 4 and may do some for my kids in the future, but I may just leave it up to my mom. :)
Ask for help lady jane! I hear ya tho it gets overwhelming and then loses its appeal!
Response to your comment...
Well...revealing is probably not the right word...but more about "me" I think...not sure...
I discovered something really cool after working YEARS in a scrapbook store . . . they call them "Photo Albums". They're magical--you shove the photos in after you get them developed and Voila! Everything is arranged (mostly) chronologically!
I feel your pain.
Amen, Amen! Isn't it so easy to start out these projects with enthusiasm and then watch them turn into work? I understand, that's for sure!
Quilting IS more fun!

Carol, I have a good friend who is a Tlingit Indian and she looks a lot like your hubby's grandma! Bette is my age and the best hand appliquer I know.
I loved my grandma dearly and she taught me so much...to quilt, to cook, to sew, to enjoy simple things. My Mom was a wonderful Grandma to my kids and we all still miss her. I stive to be a Grandma like them. It is my favorite phase of life. I take the role very seriously and feel it is up to me to pass on the wisdom of the ages...and the fun and siliness only grandmas have time for. Going to get to have all 3 together in 2 weeks at Disneyland! Yahoo what fun.
