Good News to Start the Year

Mother-in-Law is doing MUCH better! It's a miracle! She moved out of ICU into a regular hospital room and is off all her IVs, oxygen, and other tubes. She is eating real food, talking at a normal speed and is clear, alert, and memory appears to be intact. Wow! What a turn-around. And, to make everything even better, today is her 84th birthday!

I have been kind of distracted and not feeling the sewing mo-jo lately. To be honest, though, that's not so much because of MIL's hospitalization but because my sewing room is in turmoil so that I don't even feel comfortable working in there. Must do something about that very soon. I have had some fun working on knitting projects, however. And that is easy to do while sitting in a hospital waiting room. I finished this neck warmer which is soft and warm. I love it:

I can't get a picture to show the true beauty of this pink yarn. It is bright, soft and a tad variegated and so pretty!

A while back I finished this.. it was going to be a prayer shawl, but when I got it off the needle it curled so much. I suppose it needs to be blocked, which I think I know how to do, but am uncertain. Also, it is a lot smaller than I expected it to be. I ended up using it myself. It makes a great shoulder cover and is so warm. It really helps on these cold, below zero days we have been "enjoying" here in Minnesota.

Last, I finally got a haircut, which I like for the simple reason that I no longer have hair falling into my face. I hate hair in my face! Guess I'm a short-hair woman.

And that's my nice first days of 2014! Happy New Year to all my readers.

Glad to hear the good news.

And while you shorten your hair I am lengthening mine. And the transition is indeed a pain.

Happy New Year, C! I have been too busy to post or read any other blog buddies posts, so I am behind a bit. Just read about your MIL and glad she is doing better. I do remember the photo of her from a while back, though. I like the pink yarn and it looks cozy. Just stopping by to wish you all the best in 2014.

Your mother-in-law's health is a wonderful thing to hear! I like the "neck warmer." I think I will need to know about those next year! Meanwhile, I am getting excited about seeing you in two weeks. We are going to have so much fun! I need to get my hair cut too before we sail. See you soon!

Good news on MIL. Love the hair. I am going in for a cut today. I could bring the computer along and say something like this!
