Stuff I Have Been Doing
In early October I had two quilts hanging in a local show. I took pictures, but then I got a new phone and managed to lose a whole ton of pictures in the process. Boo hoo. This is one of the quilts I hung (and that you have seen before). I wish I could show you some of the other beauties that were in the show.
In mid-October I helped with a "vacation Bible school" type event at our church. It took place during two traditional school days off when parents sometimes have trouble finding places for their kids on two work days. There were several fun activities and meals/snacks.
I have been sewing as I can fit it in, as usual. Two baby quilts and an unquilted top:
Lotto blocks for Sunshine:
My cousin started a new quilting group at her church, and I attended. I think I will be a regular participant; we'll see. Here are some pictures from Show and Tell at our first meeting.
Last week I was on a retreat with friends. I got a lot of tops put together; most had been prepped but never completely sewn together. It felt good to get them done.
And I have been reading! I had to do some marathon reading this weekend, to start and finish the book that my book club will discuss this week. I finished it today. Whew!
That's all for now, folks!

Extreme Dot-to-Dot
Coloring for grown-ups has become a big thing. I've done some of it myself and enjoy doing it, especially with someone like my sister. I mentioned to my cousin that I used to love dot-to-dots, and she said they now have Extreme Dot-to-Dots for grown-ups. We were in a craft store, and she pointed them out. Oh, yes! I was excited! I got this book and did the first one in the car.. kind of a bumpy place to do a dot-to-dot, but I sure had fun. I still love these things.
I suppose I should color these after I draw them. Hmm.. maybe while coloring with my sister.

Just Some Chit Chat
I haven't just rambled, chit-chat style for a while. Now's the time.
Husband recently fixed my sewing table so it will now fit my sewing machine that I got a year ago. It's nice to have the machine sit down into the table like it's supposed to. It's handy to have a hubby who is handy.
We've been having a gorgeous fall here! Many long days of sunshine, comfortable temperatures, and blazing orange, yellow, and red trees!! I love it. I'm trying to soak it all in and memorize the colors so when gray, dreary November comes, I can be happy in my memories.
Last Saturday I went to a quilt show which was quite good - put on by Ladies of the Lake Quilters.
I have several more photos, but they're kind of hard to find on my computer at the moment, so I'm giving up.
Here's a baby quilt I made.. a couple at church is having a baby but asked that our gifts to them go instead to a shelter where there are three pregnant women. So someone in need is getting this quilt. It was fun doing an anonymous baby shower, knowing the gifts are really needed where they are going.
Here's a quilt I'm making. I can't decide if I'm finished or not. The recipient asked for a longer than normal quilt (this one is) that is "heavy" kind of like a weighted blanket. I have that figured out, I think. What I don't know is if I have made it wide enough. I am hesitating taking it to the quilter until I figure out if I'm done or if I need to add some width to it. I'm eager to get it done! I just need to make a decision. Sometimes I can be indecisive!
I just realized this photo was taken when I was in mid-construction phase. It's not even the whole quilt top!
Well, this has been a disjointed chit-chat, but that's all I have in me right now. I'm tired and it's past my bedtime. Nighty-night!

Friday: No Books Today
I have been in a reading slump lately. One reason is that the book I'm currently reading, while extremely well written, is kind of boring. Nothing happens! I'm slogging through. I can't wait to get to a page-turner.
I've gone back to work now, after my month off for traveling and meetings. I was a little nervous to go back, hoping I hadn't forgotten how to do everything. I hadn't. Whew! Also, I was told that I received a compliment from a customer (it's anonymous). They can submit a compliment or complaint any time they want. This is the first time I have received an official compliment. I'll get a little certificate. Whoopee! My first one in four years. I know the customers have to kind of go out of their way to submit these, so I really appreciate it. The official kudos are rare birds.
We've been working on weeding our garden. It is full of tall weeds! When we left for Oz and Kiwi, it was too early in the season to have any weeds or to plant. When we came back, the time had almost passed, so our weeds were tall, and we hadn't put in any flowers yet. It's hard to catch up.
I have a couple little bushes that I planted a couple years ago. I don't even know what they are, but they are flowering nicely this year. I'm happy about that. The smaller bush, that I did not photograph, has way more buds on it. Yay!
That's about the only excitement going on around here. Life has resumed to its normal, quiet yet chaotic pace.

Treading Water
Do I have anything to report? Not much. I'm keeping up with things that have to be done, as they come up. And that's about it -- things like preparing the newsletter for my local guild (obviously, I'm the editor), and working on a computer project that had to get done in April (it's done).
I have been putting hanging sleeves on a few quilts to hang in our guild's show, which starts soon. Otherwise, no sewing is happening! A little knitting has happened, but I have nothing to show.
Our cat had to have a tooth extracted, and now it's my turn. Yesterday I got that good news at the dentist.
Spring is chugging along reluctantly. It has been dreary and cold (40s F). We're still running our furnace.
How are things in your world?
magnolias at church.. this year they're still just buds.. we're waiting

Pictures of This and That
I found the pieces I needed to upload photos, so here you go: a good mish-mash of this and that.
Look at this.. playing Words With Friends. I had a great word, but no place on the board to make it. None that I could figure out, anyway. There are places for some good scoring words, but no place to use all seven letters. I just had to take a picture of it to remember the great word.
The next photo is J, from church, modeling the beautiful prayer shawl she made. The yarn is beautiful; the picture doesn't do it justice. The shawl is in a triangle shape and drapes so nicely. It's really a pretty one. She has been perfecting her crocheting skills over time.
This is my daughter in her bedroom. They just moved, and I was getting a tour. I was happy to see the quilt I made for them on their bed. (I had been told it was too small.)
a pretty quilt being shown at my guild meeting
I had fun driving around and trying to get decent pictures of Christmas lights.
I was given a big pile of fabric; lots of it was scraps, so I filled five more pet beds. After I made these I was given one more garbage bag full of scraps. There are going to be some happy animals around here.

Stuff
I'm trying to organize my house, my life, and my own self. Haha! I have not been super successful so far.
I have some photos in my camera, but I can't find the thingamajig I need for uploading them. Well, to be honest, I also am having a hard time keeping track of my little SD card on which I can take pictures. I often forget to remove it from the computer, so it doesn't get put back into my camera. Then I have to do the more complicated version of uploading from the camera itself. And in the meantime I manage to lose the SD card. And, to be even more brutally honest, I once again can't find my newer, smaller camera (it's in my house, somewhere). The older camera only can use a 2GB SD card, and those are hard to find these days. I can't just take a bigger GB card from my newer camera and use it in my older camera.
Are you dizzy yet? I am.
I guess I missed the finale of "Dancing With the Stars." I keep expecting to watch it on a Monday night, and there's nothing there. I don't care to see "Rudolph" for the umpteenth time in my long life. Most Christmas TV shows suck really bad. (IMHO)
So I've been listening to public radio a lot lately, and even reading! But not much sewing. Boo hoo.
Maybe I'll find my camera soon... or those old 2GB cards.

Busy Weekend!
I'm not in a writing mood, but I wanted to share this funny sign with you. Friendly Graffiti:
and some pretty autumn leaves, which are soon to be off all the trees. Thanks for being beautiful, Fall! You're my Fave!
Some time later I'll tell you about my busy weekend. Have a great week!
