I Made a Giraffe!

This is the Feb doll quilt I made for the monthly doll quilt exchange I joined this year. This was sent to my partner in Canada.

The theme for the month was "something you love" - so making a giraffe was my first inclination, and I was so happy with how it turned out.

We are supposed to keep it a secret until it arrives at its destination; word is that Ms. Giraffe is now in her new home in Canada, reminding her new owner of warmer days to come. So she is no longer a secret and is being revealed right here at Giraffe Dreams!

See the Serengeti

Wow. I'm in awe. Victoria at Bumble Beans spent Christmas at the Serengeti in Africa. Her pictures are awesome. And... in addition to lions and a zillion other animals, she saw a bunch of giraffes! Want to see? Follow this link:

This Guy Loves My Quilts

There is one guy in my life who LOVES my quilts. He can barely take a nap without using one of my quilts. He hangs around while I'm making them and adds his opinions, which usually don't make any sense, so I just ignore him. He has a quilt of his own, which he loves, but he seems to love all the others that I use, too. If I take a nap using one of my quilts, he has to come around and hang out with me. He is my biggest fan, and I'm happy to have at least one huge fan who loves all my quilts, ugly or not. Here is my biggest fan, sleeping sweetly on one of my quilts:

Isn't he sweet? Especially while sleeping. On a quilt. Not annoying or biting me. I wish my hubby would be half the fan that the cat is, but I'm just thankful to have one avid fan.

Look at this great fabric! Giraffes! I'm tempted just to hang it on the wall, without even cutting into it. I'll have to see if inspiration hits.

I made another small quiltie for Rosbud Reservation. I finished the previous six, which I showed you before (two of them are below, all done). The box they're in could fit one more, so here it is. I'll send these 7 quilties to Rosebud this week.

One Million Giraffes!

Look at this! http://www.onemilliongiraffes.com/ This person is trying to collect photos of one million home-made giraffes! Isn't that cool?? You can help if you want to. Here's a tutorial you can try. He needs them by the end of 2010. I sent in a picture of my giraffe in a quilt. I don't know if it technically follows his rules, so I'll see if it gets posted. Meanwhile, I'm going to try to draw one, too! Or make one out of something I find around the house.

remember my giraffe-in-a-quilt?

Also I have more blocks to show you. These are for Kandee. And I'll confess that these blocks are not pouring in as fast as I thought they would. If you want to make more, please go ahead. Maybe some people who would normally do these are on vacation. I think I'll make some more, too. Anyway, all the blocks I have received are so pretty! I'm sure Kandee will love this quilt.

These next two blocks are only one year late! Not bad, eh?? They are for our local quilt guild past president. I was supposed to have these made and delivered to her in July 2009. Luckily she has not started her quilt, so she is being patient about waiting for mine. Because of that, I made her two instead of just one. (In the meantime, one more president has come and gone, and I have not yet made her block, either. Where does the time go??)

Now I'm going to go create another giraffe.
